When are you getting your Nodo Update?

So when are you getting your Nodo updates?  The Telus phones are getting the Pre-NoDo and there is a date for Nodo.  What about the rest of us Canucks?

Unlike the Android way of you will get it when you get it and the iPhone way of everbody gets it on the same date (and good luck if you ran into problems) way, Microsoft is using a more controlled way to rolling the updates out.  But it does get a bit confusing as us WP7 users do not actually know when an update is suppose to be release.

Some of folks from other carriers been asking when they are getting their update.

Fortunately, Microsoft has provided a list for us.  The release is still going to be staggered but at least we know it is coming.

This list is provided by Microsoft on the night of March 23, 2011

I have extracted the Canadian part of the table here for quick reference:

Here's what each term mean: (source: Microsoft)
Stage 1: Testing
The software update is undergoing mobile operator network and quality tests.

Stage 2: Scheduling
Operator testing is complete, and Microsoft is scheduling the update for delivery. This phase typically lasts 10 days or less.

Stage 3: Delivering update
Microsoft has started to send out the update. Because updates are typically delivered to customers in batches, it might take several weeks before you receive notice that an update is available for you.

So there you are.  Looks like you should be getting your Pre-NoDo notification soon (or just plug into your Zune Desktop and see if you get an update).  From the looks of this, March 29, 2010 is not only the drop date for Telus customers but it looks like it could be dropping for the rest of the carriers as well.

For our International readers, here is a link for you
For our US readers, this is for you.

It will be interesting to see how this Microsoft update strategy works in terms of how smooth the updates are and whether or not we are going to bricked phones.  We will have a poll for that later.

If you are wondering why I only review stuff (and have update information) about a SIM unlocked HTC Surround , the reason is that I do this as an independent (for fun and not profit) so I do this on my own phone.  No company sends me other WP7 phones to try (and review) and I don't make enough money off this blog (my earnings so far is $0.61 since I started this blog 4 months ago off ad impressions - sad - hahaha).  I have a family to feed to I cannot spare any more coin to purchase other WP7 handsets to review.

So my sincere apologies to all you non-HTC Surround users.

Once I get my Nodo update, I'll be sure to update you with my thoughts on the update process and I'll go through the list of promises and see if Microsoft delivers.
