The Nokia Lumia 800 is now available over at Telus.
From the telus specs, looks like this will not work on WIND/Mobilicity.
Pricing:
$529.99 - no term
$479.99 - 1 year
$429.99 - 2 years
$49.99 - 3 years (so called promotional pricing as you will need a min $50 monthly plan)
Black, Cyan, and Magenta are the available colours over at TELUS. I would imagine that sometime in the future, the glossy white one could become available.
Enjoy!

Went and checked out the 800 last night at my local Telus store. Looked pretty good, although I noticed when swiping to the right to check out the app list, it didn't have the option to jump to specific letters, perhaps not enough apps installed. I think I am going to wait for the 900, but I haven't heard anything about it coming to Telus, only Rogers, but so far nobody has mentioned the 900 will be exclusive to Rogers, so I am keeping my fingers crossed it will be released on Telus.
ReplyDeletethe 900 is rumoured to be released April (Rogers at first) If I were you, i'd wait too. And your observation of the quick letter jump on the app list is correct. The letter to jump only shows if you have more than a certain number of apps installed.
ReplyDelete"From the telus specs, looks like this will not work on WIND/Mobilicity"
ReplyDeleteHow do you know that?
when I checked the specs of the Lumia 800, on the Telus site, the phone has the 1700 band, which means it could work on Mobilicity?! has anyone tried it? can you confirm or deny this?
Network 4G HSPA 850/1700/1900/2100
Sorry, when they first put up the spec on that website, it didn't have 1700Mhz. From the looks of the updated spec sheet, looks like it just might work. From GSMArena, it lists "HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - For Canada" so the information is still unclear
ReplyDeleteAnyone out there tried using it with WIND?
i am actually willing to say that it's a typo on Telus's part. Like how Rogers have refer WP7 under Windows Mobile section since the launch of WP7
ReplyDeletemore like a misrepresentation of the product!?
ReplyDeleteI asked 2 employees at a Telus store, they were both clueless. One of them said it might work on Wind, but not on Mobilicity, which is inaccurate because they both use the same 1700Mhz band.
Telus employees are very Android bias. I was checking out the 800 they keep pushing me Android devices so I doubt they will have any idea what the 800 could do. But I have been searching the intertubes since your comment and it doesn't appear that people have tried it on WIND and Mobilicity. Will continue to research I guess.
Deletelol, yeah I noticed!
ReplyDeleteI told the salesman I'm only interested in this particular phone! Nothing else.
I've actually had a Google Nexus S for a short while.. Not my thing. Android is just a mess.
I read that the Canadian Lumia 800 and 900 might be different from the US versions, but I couldn't find anything else.
